Seriphos Crystals are a rare form of quartz only found in Greece; they are intergrown with the rare mineral Hedenbergite, which causes the unusual green colors that these crystals occur in. These crystals are very feminine in their energy and appearance, with many of them resembling a green layered vegetable; with the shades of green ranging from a light pleasing pale celery green to very deep spinach green, the further rarity of these crystals is clearly their shape and formational structures which is referred to as a tessin habit of growth. This form has 2 or more layers to it, the central crystal is the inner layer; and the outer layers consist of crystals that curve upward into the tip of the crystal where its termination occurs. The Hedenbergite grow first, and then the quartz became intergrown with it after an infusion of highly heated and liquefied Silica Oxide (SiO2); creating one of the Worlds rarest crystals, The Greek Government banned mining on the Island of Seriphos a few years ago.
